Click on the first link, Area Code+Prefix Lookup, to quickly find California dial-up access numbers. All numbers currently end in -2736 (SlipStream clients use -2737) with the exception of a few locations in the 760 Area Code. Enter the Area Code and first 3 digits of the number you are dialing from; if there's a match, a list of cities/numbers and the approx. miles to the nearest phone office switch(es) will be displayed. There are two national lists (California is also included): the first is in order by city within state; the second is in order by city within area code. You'll notice a suffix (SFX) A or B after each number; if you find that both an A and B number will meet your connection needs, always select the A-suffixed number. Before using any dial-up number, you should contact the applicable local phone company with the calling/called number to verify that it is a local call. |
